What is that yarn? Really nice. In February this year, I started the second semester or a four-semester BS in Textile Development at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. It was a semester with lots of machine knitting and some hand-weaving, too.

worked on my first pair of socks.

  3. Great socks. I have been busy working on some new designs, included my first shawl pattern. I have managed to get 1 pair of socks done a month. Now I just need to finish up Marches socks. Keep up the great work.

    The socks are lovely.

I’ve been working with my cousin on a book of my series of b/w photographs of abandoned and neglected farmhouses in the Great Plains. He is writing the text. The book proposal is under consideration by a university press. No quilting projects completed, but I’m collecting blues for a special housewarming gift quilt.

Love your highlights! Keep them coming. As you can see I’m behind on my sock knitting but I’ll be on vacation next week, visiting my family on the east coast, so I hope to catch up with some heavy duty knitting on the plane ride.

I rekindled a friendship that had languished for a decade… I felt inspired to paint again after a very long period of stagnancy… I spied little tulip, crocus, and daffodil sprouts peeking up out of the soil when the snow melted away… I broke the ice and found a yoga class i love… things are looking up. :)

Had two baby showers with lots of wonderful friends. Went to my quilt guild meeting where I was surprised to receive a beautiful baby quilt made by many guild members. I’ve just been blown away by people’s generosity!

You haven’t been idle, I see!
beautiful socks, I wonder how the heel is done, very intriguing.

  9. Beth T. says:

I shared heartfelt correspondence with a dear friend. I believe each of us feels our load is lighter, and I know we’ll each be reaching out more often in the future, as we make our ways through current struggles. How thankful I am for this friend of many decades. Where does the time go? Riding the schoolbus together feels like a very recent memory.

May your roots find nourishment and strength in East Bay! I asked my principal to come observe me teaching in anticipation of looking for a full-time teaching position. She observed, I was nervous and I rushed myself, but I’m over that hump, now!

February’s close brought the felted sweaters out of the drawer and onto the project table. I cut them into workable sized pieces in anticipation of a lap blanket of some pattern as yet undecided upon. The potty training continues with the Littles I look after several days a week.

Your move to the East Bay sounds as tho it works out well so far. The park system here is excellent; there are full-sized redwoods just off Skyline Drive and 35th Ave in Roberts Recreational Area. I hope you find beauty, fun, friends and security in your new neighborhood and haunts.

  12. Gwen says:

Sounds like a productive period. And your socks are so beautiful and colorful! Love.
